Annnd We’re Back Once again….

Sorry for the week delay folks, but we had some serious website issues we had to take care of. All is well now and we’re ready to start rockin’ and rollin’ again with brand-spankin’ new episodes.

Starting with a banging one today…..

In this episode, I chat with Bill Troy, who is an Inc. 500 CEO and a natural-born contrarian who, for 25 years, has helped global brands like Sony, Disney and Nestle see the world from a different perspective.

His forthcoming book, ClickSand: How The Pitchmen of Online Marketing Suck You In and Ruin Your Business, is an explosive wake-up call and warning for business owners about the dangers and hypocrisy in online marketing. In ClickSand, Bill compares giant RMS like HubSpot, Google, and LinkedIn as well as local agencies and consultants in towns big and small to snake-oil pitchmen of the 1800s.

I believe it was Seth Godin who once said, “Marketers Ruin Everything,” and I gotta admit I believe that statement wholeheartedly. Way too many online marketers blend sales with marketing which taints the potentiality of a real relationship.

Bill shares with us his take on modern day marketing and challenges us to rethink on we build relationships with our potential clients. Are you doing it wrong? Are you pushing away your clients? Maybe if you don’t know, but I’m convinced after this episode, you’ll learn some new strategies on how to connect better with your existing audience and new clients.

Hey there friend….

To be real with ya, it’s been one of those crazy, busy, “What the hell happened!!??” kind of week.  Yes, it was nuts, but I managed to snatch a few wins: record an awesome interview for next weeks episode, had a great coaching call, and made an important decision in regards to my mission at hand.

So, no…I am not complaining…..

In this episode, I may sound super exhausted and thats because I was when I recorded this last night. After a long day and intensive coaching call, my mind was fried chicken! But, that didn’t stop me. I pressed record and made sure I gave you something to plug into this week.

I share my top 5 networking tips with you. We all know about the importance of relationship building. How vital it is to build your network to cultivate trust and develop relationships within our industry. I often get asked from people starting in this online business world, “where should I start?” “Do I need a website?” “Can you please help me get this Facebook page up, it’s urgent!” and so on.

The truth…

None of it matters. At least, not when your first starting your business. My biggest advice is to attend more live events. Go to meet-ups, conferences, and get connected with your industry. Provide something of value to them. Help them move their needle, be patient, and give, give, give, and give some more.

Attending networking events can be daunting. Introducing yourself to a stranger feels pretty weird at first, right? Maybe you’re not sure how much you should talk about your business. At what point, do you pass out your business card? There is definitely a science to becoming a great networker.

Check out my top 5 networking tips and incorporate them the next time you attend an event/meet-up. Then, Let me know how it turns out for you. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact and drop me a comment down below.

Until next time, Peace and 1ove.

I met today’s guest at Thrive last year. I recall being exhausted after a long day of note taking and hand shaking with conference attendees. Conferences can be so exhausting. Add networking to the mix and you’re really in for an early night of great sleep.

None of that mattered on this particular day. After day one was over, I connected with my fellow master mind friends for an evening of dinner, drinks, and great company. We were having such a great time and a few of us were ready for the next social engagement.

That next engagement is where I was introduced to the lovely Esther Kiss. We had a brief chat, reconnected after the event and BOOM! Here we are for episode 62.

Esther Kiss is the founder of Born To Influence where she helps personal brands get more publicity which results into bigger sales and leads. Her clients have been featured on TV, in newspapers, magazines and on the top podcasts in the world. She is a total PR rockstar and I’m honored to have her on the show with us today.

In this episode, you’ll learn

  • Three differences between traditional and online media
  • Why Trump sucks at Twitter
  • How to pitch your idea to mainstream media
  • The power of podcasting
  • Why networking is important

Esther provided our listeners a FREE gift!

I’m super excited to share this episode with you for a few reasons. I have interviewed many successful entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, and content creators on this podcast, but I haven’t had the opportunity to get in the trenches with a solopreneur who is currently in the “early grind” of their journey.

I connected with Tom Hemerka via a mastermind group I’m currently in. We met recently at a live event and instantly became homies for life. Yes, I used the term “homies” After learning more about his business and getting to know Tom personally, I was fascinated by his keen sense of simple strategizing, and his unselfish demeanor to give massive value to anyone who’s willing to connect with him. A rare trait and something that stood out from him in our first introduction.

In this episode, we dive deep into solopreneur life before monetization. Tom isn’t making money from his passion project yet, instead he is focused on building his community one instagram follower at a time. With over 100k followers on instagram, Tom is taking his mission at Pastry Elite with a laser beamed, social media strategy to build a massive audience (Don’t believe me, check for yourself) before launching any kind of business model. Quite impressive!

You’ll be inspired his Tom’s hustle and be reminded by the simplicity needed to start a business. You don’t need all the answers. You don’t need to learn every aspect of online marketing. You don’t need all the bells and whistles to be successful.

And you definitely need permission to start your movement.
