As you know, the name of our podcast is called “No Permission Needed,” because it represents a tribe of individuals who decided to say yes and start a business or a movement behind a purpose/passion.

In today’s episode, I had the honor of sitting down with Houston-based entrepreneur, Kathy Bass, who is a branding expert and the director of the movie, “Entrepreneur, the movie” I had the privilege of seeing the pre-screening of the movie and chat with Kathy about the blood, sweat and tears she had to endure to get this movie done and delivered. She gave herself permission to do something different and capture the essence behind the modern day entrepreneur.

Did I mention this is our first official LIVE podcast episode?!!

Kathy and I spoke right after the screening and got mad REAL about the movie, the struggle of an entrepreneur, hobbies, and many more topics I know you can relate to. I want to give a special shoutout and thanks to Kathy for the pre-screening invite and spending some time with me afterwards to chat on the podcast.

Be sure to say hello to Kathy on twitter @ladieswhobrand

I’m super excited to share this episode with you for a few reasons. I have interviewed many successful entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, and content creators on this podcast, but I haven’t had the opportunity to get in the trenches with a solopreneur who is currently in the “early grind” of their journey.

I connected with Tom Hemerka via a mastermind group I’m currently in. We met recently at a live event and instantly became homies for life. Yes, I used the term “homies” After learning more about his business and getting to know Tom personally, I was fascinated by his keen sense of simple strategizing, and his unselfish demeanor to give massive value to anyone who’s willing to connect with him. A rare trait and something that stood out from him in our first introduction.

In this episode, we dive deep into solopreneur life before monetization. Tom isn’t making money from his passion project yet, instead he is focused on building his community one instagram follower at a time. With over 100k followers on instagram, Tom is taking his mission at Pastry Elite with a laser beamed, social media strategy to build a massive audience (Don’t believe me, check for yourself) before launching any kind of business model. Quite impressive!

You’ll be inspired his Tom’s hustle and be reminded by the simplicity needed to start a business. You don’t need all the answers. You don’t need to learn every aspect of online marketing. You don’t need all the bells and whistles to be successful.

And you definitely need permission to start your movement.

A funky, artistic alien is how I would describe today’s guest. Mars Dorian is a super creative digital illustrator/story teller who gave us the best answer to what his purpose is on this planet…..

I want to make people horny for the future- Mars Dorian

The best quote you’ve heard, right?

That’s the kind of creative Mars Dorian is and that’s the impact he wants to make on this world. I had a great time chatting with Mars. It was nice to catch up with an old friend who I admire immensely. We talked about the hit TV show, Stranger Things, his love for sci-fi and other randomness. Not only that…

In this episode, you’ll learn

  • The magic in “The Remix”
  • Mar’s top tips on self-publishing
  • Mar’s five questions you should ask yourself before you go to bed

Ever hit that major mental block when you feel stranded with absolutely no ideas? Maybe you have way too many ideas, but you don’t know how to focus on the right one. Can you relate? I’m sure you can.

I was super excited to connect with Don The Idea Guy to discuss the art of creative idea brainstorming. Don is a sought after creative idea consultant who has worked with many brands, businesses, and companies. He’s quick to turn on the switch and hit you with a jolt of ideas in an instant.

I really enjoyed this conversation. Creative brainstorming is one of my favorite things to do. I love the energy behind Don’s natural ability for ideation. He gives me some great ideas on how to enhance “the fun” behind the work I do with this podcast.  It’s definitely something we should all practice. Having a little fun with what we do. What do you think?

Remember that it’s fun, not about sales Don The Idea Guy

In this episode, you’ll learn

  • How to capture your ideas
  • How to focus on the right idea
